The Smile Awards 2010 Aesthetic Restorative Technician

Dr Sunita Verma’s lab technician, Gary Young from Sherring Lucas Laboratory won a Smile Award for Best Restorative Technician for the exquisite porcelain work he did for one of Sunita’s patients.

Sunita says “A dentist is often only as good as the lab technician whose skills allow the dentist to create that perfect smile. For our cosmetic cases, Gary and I work very closely together to plan and produce the perfect smile for each patient.

The winning entry was a very challenging case, as my patient had a particularly wide diastema or gap between her upper teeth, which was at the very edge of what is clinically possible to restore.

Creating a new smile is a highly technical process requiring great skill and experience to achieve a natural looking beautiful smile. It takes artistic ability and extensive knowledge to create the smile that patient’s desire. I am so proud to have Gary as part of my team.”
